Same-day pickup is normal for us rather than exceptional, but it depends on a few things going right at the point you call. Here is what actually makes it work.
The Cutoffs
They differ by distance, and calling an hour earlier is often the whole difference.

We run 6 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week, so an early call gives the most options.
The Four Things We Need
Same-day collection fails for one reason more than any other: the truck arrives and cannot do the job. Four details prevent that.
1. Year, make and model. Sets the quote.
2. What is wrong with it. Particularly whether the catalytic converter is still attached. Told on the phone, it is priced in. Discovered at the kerb, the number has to change — which is the conversation everybody hates.
3. Exactly where it sits. “In the driveway,” “on the street,” “in the alley garage,” “behind the house” are four different jobs. An alley garage in Berwyn needs a different approach to an open driveway in Tinley Park.
4. Whether it rolls. Flat tyres, seized brakes, locked steering, no key — all fine, all manageable, but the driver needs to bring the right equipment.
What Happens When the Truck Arrives
About 15 minutes, start to finish:
- The driver checks the vehicle against what you described.
- You complete the paperwork together.
- Cash is counted into your hand.
- The car goes up onto the flatbed.
Payment comes before loading, deliberately. You should never be in the position of having surrendered the vehicle and waiting on the money.
You do not need to be the one who meets the driver — anyone authorised to sign and hand over keys is fine. Just tell us who to expect.
When Same Day Is Not Realistic
Worth being straight about. Same day is unlikely if:
- You call after about 5 PM for a far suburb
- The vehicle is behind a locked gate nobody can open today
- The only person who can sign is not available
- The car is in an impound lot with fees still outstanding
None of those are dead ends — they just mean tomorrow rather than today.

Can you really pick up a junk car the same day?
Usually, yes. For the city and inner suburbs, calling before about 3 PM makes same-day collection normal. For the farther western and northern suburbs — Aurora, Elgin, Joliet, Waukegan — call before about 2 PM so the driver can fit it into the day's route.
What do you need from me to make it same day?
Year, make and model; roughly what is wrong; exactly where the vehicle sits, and whether it rolls. That last pair determines which truck we send, and getting it right the first time is the difference between same day and rescheduling.
Do I need to be there?
Someone authorised to sign the paperwork and hand over the keys must be present. It does not have to be you — tell us who to expect when you book.
How long does the pickup itself take?
About 15 minutes from the driver arriving to the car being loaded. He inspects the vehicle, completes the paperwork with you, hands over the cash, then winches it up. You do not need to set aside an afternoon.
Does same-day cost extra?
No. Towing is free regardless of timing, and there is no rush fee. The quoted figure is the cash you receive.
